Illustrated with forty-three drawings by English artist, Herbert Railton, who was a leading illustrator of books and magazines at the time, known for his black-and-white drawings. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding, with gilt detailing to the front board. Externally, smart, with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine. The occasional mark to boards, with two larger marks to the front board. Front hinge slightly strained but holding firm. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound.
