This horse-racing knowledge fed into Hislop's writing, with works including 'From Start to Finish' and 'Racing Reflections' being popular within the racing community. This particular work depicts different aspects of steeplechasing, including 'Riding Over Fences', 'Riding Bad Jumpers' and 'Tactics&apos. Hislop explains what is needed to excel at steeplechasing, the distance horse race containing many obstacles to jump over.
