All of the 'Just William' books were collections of short stories, with the exception of 'Just William's Luck', which was one story. In these stories, William Brown often had an adventure, using his confidence and his independent mind to take on any projects and games which came his way. In this particular collection, William makes himself Dictator of the Outlaws, taking control of the village, without an election. Filled with misunderstandings and confusions, everything is bound to work out in the end as long as William follows his motto, "Doin' good, rightin' wrongs, spreadin' happiness and walking down the narrow path of virtue". With charming illustrations throughout by English illustrator, Thomas Henry. With a 1939 pencil inscription to the front endpaper. In the original publisher's cloth binding with the original, price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities. Fading to the head of the spine. The odd spot to endpapers, with loss to the front endpaper. Dust wrapper in good only condition. Loss to the wrap to the head of the spine and to the front of the board. Loss to the inner flaps of the wrap. The odd tear from the areas lacking to the wrap. Slight sunning to the wrap with the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good .
