Bookplate of Roy R. King, a numismatist and art collector, to the front of the wrap. A collection of four folding plates, arranged according to Mr. G. R. Gray's Genera of Birds (184449), of orders and families of birds. Plates include Orders Accipitres, Passeres, Scansores, Galinae, Gralle and Anseres, and families within these orders. The illustrations were engraved by Joseph Wilson Lowry (18031879), a British engraver who specialised in scientific subjects.Undated, dated through copies held at the Science Museum Library. In quarter cloth and paper wraps. Externally sound, with faint marks to the front of the wraps. Some creasing and small closed tears to the extremities of the wraps.
