Written and illustrated by Richard Doyle, a British illustrator of the Victorian era who drew the cover of the first issue of Punch and designed the masthead. In collaboration with Percival Leigh, an English satirist and comic writer known as one of the founding contributors and deputy editor of Punch. Previously held in the library of Leonard Harrison Matthews, a British zoologist know for his research and writings on marine life. In the original half red crushed morocco with blue paper covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards and light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Ink stamp to the front endpaper. Very Good .
