Elizabeth Rayner Belloc née Parkes (1829-1925) was a poet, essayist and journalist, and also a prominent feminist and campaigner for women's rights. In this work, she gives a personal account of her travels around France, where she met and lived with her husband Louis Belloc, offering descriptions and poems of towns and villages. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound, with staining to the boards and spine, and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Splitting to the cloth to both joints. Both hinges are slightly strained but holding firm. Pages 7 to 10, including the plate facing page 11, are detached but intact. The plate facing page 13 is coming loose.
