A first edition copy. Robert Atkyns was an English Lord Chief Baron of the Exchequer, member of Parliament and Speaker of the House of Lords. William Ashhurst was an English banker, merchant and Whig politician who sat in the English and British House of Commons from 1689 to 1710. He was also Lord Mayor of London in 1693. This is the speech delivered at the time of William Ashhurt's swearing in to the Court of Exchequer on October 13th 1693. All the pages are present, the front wrap is detached. Collated, complete. In the original wraps. Externally, worn with the front wrap is detached but present, a previous owner inscription to the front wrap and creasing to the extremities.
