The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original and scarce unclipped dust wrapper. Ink inscription to the front free end paper. Charles Cotton (1630-1687) was an English poet and writer, best known for The Compleat Gamester, for translating the work of Michel de Montaigne, and for his contributions to The Compleat Angler. This is a collection of his poems, edited with an introduction and notes by John Beresford. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in excellent condition except for a little bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, apart from some offsetting to the end papers. Dust wrapper is smart, with just some sunning to the spine and minor creasing to the head of the spine. Offsetting to the verso of the wrap. Near Fine . Ill.: Not Stated. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed.
