He wrote a number of successful historical works on England. This two-volume biography, now a scarce find, concerns King Charles I. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally fairly smart, though faded, with bumping to the extremities and light wear to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinge to Vol I is tender. Rear hinge to Vol I and front hinge to Vol II are slightly strained but holding firm. Front free end paper is detached to Vol I. The first blank page to page 1 of Vol I are held by two cords only; the rest of the pages are firmly bound.
