The odes are written in an imitation of the short lyrical poems written by the Greek poets Sappho, Pindar, and Alcaeus. They cover a range of subjects, including religion, wine, patriotism, love, friendship, and morality. This particular version, edited by Karl Hermann Weise, is becoming uncommon. In a full vellum binding. Externally, very smart, with only a couple of small marks to the front board. Internally, firmly bound.
