Description: Paris, Bibliotheque des Curieux, 1912. First edition. Leather. Guillaume Apollinaire provides an introduction to accompany Francisco Delicado's fifteenth century novel La Gentille Andalouse in this leather bound first edition. Published in French, with a frontispiece. Francisco Delicado's interesting novel, The Gentle Andalouse or The Portrait of Lozana, is accompanied by an introduction by Guillame Apollinaire in this first edition. Published in French, with a frontispiece. Published in 1528 by the Spanish Renaissance writer Francisco Delicado, The Portrait of Andalucian Lozana describes the life in Rome's underworld during the first third of the sixteenth century, with a particular focus on the world of immigrant women on Spain and Spanish Southern Italy. As well as being one of the earliest manifestations of a picaresque novel, the work also stands out for its narrative form, as much of the novel is told through continuous lines of dialogue. The French writer Guillaume Apollinaire was influential in the early twentieth century France. An impassioned defender of Cubism, and a forefather of Surrealism, Apollinaire often wrote poems without punctuation in an attempt to be resolutely modern in both form and subject. In a quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally, smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, a little more so to the joints and the spine. Lightly bumped to the extremities. The front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, with bright and clean pages. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
