This uncommon volume includes a history of the abbeys, illustrations, and a concise description of Benedictine life. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front free endpaper. The inscription reads, 'Pax. J Tomanus Rios. O. S. B. ad urum. I.O G. D. 1951.' In a contemporary calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards and the extremities. The spine is discoloured and a little more rubbed, particularly to the front joint and the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the occasional spot.
