After serving in the army, Mandat-Grancey travelled in North America, first writing articles for the Correspondent about west Canada, before exploring Chicago, New York, and Dakota. The present volume includes an account of the journalist's excursion in the rocky mountains, and his impressions Chicago and New York. In the present work, Mandat-Grancey warns the French public against what he called 'American Imperialism', and sympathises with the character of the people whilst often dengrating the US government. The front free endpaper has an inch-long horizontal tear. In a quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, particularly to the fore edge. A little rubbed to the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some patches of light foxing. Very Good . Ill.: Crafty; Martin-Chablis. Very Good .
