Across six leather bound volumes, Pasquier offers reminiscences from his long and active career as a lawyer. Born into an aristocratic judicial family, the statesman became a counsellor of the parlement de Paris and witnessed the growing hostility between the judicial body and Louis XVI of France in the years preceding the French Revolution of 1789. After a brief period of imprisonment, he re-entered the public service until the period of the First French Empire, and later became counsellor of state in 1810. In a red quarter calf binding over patterned boards. Externally generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards with some moderate rubbing to the joints. A little rubbed to the head and tail of the spine, more so to volume I. There is a centimetre long tear in the calf at the rear joint of volume III near the head of the spine, and the leather is also beginning to crack at the front joints of volume IV and V near the head of the spine. The front hinges of volumes I, II, III and V are starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from some foxing to the front and rear of the volumes, pages are generally bright and clean with the occasional mark. Very Good . Ill.: Not stated. Very Good .
