Credited simply to 'A Practical Agriculturalist', this very scarce first edition examines soil conditions and manure application, and discusses the practical application of theories put forward by chemist Sir Humphrey Davy.The author discusses methods of testing soil conditions, fallowing, irrigation, and discusses eight different 'excrementitious substances applied as manure', from 'dung of sea-birds' to urine.Rebound in the cloth of the Rothamsted Laboratory Lawes Trust, and with the stamp of the Lawes Agricultural Trust, which was established in 1889, to the front pastedown.A wonderful example of this very scarce work. Rebound in cloth, with endpapers renewed. A touch of fading to back strip and board perimeters, otherwise externally excellent. Library stamp to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with scattered light spots and handling marks. Fore edge of leaves D6, F2, F7 and I8 restored, not affecting text. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: None. Very Good Indeed .
