This volume contains three popular novelas by French writer Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, 'Atala', 'Rene', and 'Les Aventures du Dernier Abencerage&apos. 'Atala' was first published in 1801 and tells the romance of 'two Indian savages in the desert' and their story which is preserved through the Seminole oral tradition. 'Rene', first published in 1802, had a huge impact on early Romanticism and deals with a passionate young man who finds himself at odds with contemporary society. 'Les Aventures du Dernier Abencerage' first appeared in 1826, and was inspired by the author's journey through Spain. This piece also includes Voyage en Amerique, originally published in 1827 recounting Chateaubriand's five months in America in 1791. A time that inspired much of his writing. Written by Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand, a French politician, historian, diplomat, and writer known for his influence on French literature in the 19th century. Bound in half calf with marbled boards. Externally with shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Rear joint starting but firm. Significant loss to the tail of the spine and spine label.
