The present collection also contains volume II of series VI. Series I reproduces the writings of the Apostolic Fathers, also known as the Anti-Nicene Fathers, who were core Christian theologians living in the first and second centuries. They are believed to have personally known some of the Twelve Apostles. Series three includes Octavius by Marcus Minicius Felix, one of the earliest Latin Christian apologists and bothDe Baptismo and Adversus Marcionem by Tertullian. Series five contains the Hilarii Pictaviensis De Trinitate. Series six contains Augustine's confessions, in which he outlines his conversion to Christianity. From the library of Ramsgate Monastery, with the institutional bookplate to the front pastedown of all volumes. All volumes also have a sleeve for an index card adhered to the front pastedown, found with the relevant index card to the remaining volumes. With an institutional stamp from St. Augustine's to the title page of the first book of Series I, final page of the second book. Each volume has a a library number to the spine, with another sellotaped on top. In a black quarter calf binding over cloth boards. The cloth to volume VI is embossed with a different design to the other volumes. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the boards, except for the final four volumes in the collection which are a little soiled to the fore edge of the front board. Volume I is missing some cloth to the fore edge of the front board, and volume III is lacking some calf and cloth to the extremities at the front and rear boards. Lightly rubbed to the spines, with a little scuffing to the joints near the head of volumes I, II, and IV. Volume VII is more worn than the other volumes, with some moderate rubbing to the joints, and a couple of closed tears to the calf at the head of the spine. The front hinge is starting to volume VI. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the occasional patch of light foxing. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
