Description: London, John Fairburn, 1816. Disbound. A very scarce collection of songs from theatrical productions in the early 19th century, compiled by John Fairburn. A very scarce work, disbound but intact. Ink inscriptions to the title page and to page 11. A collection of the lyrics of popular songs from theatrical productions at the Theatres Royal, Sadler's Wells, Vauxhall, and Drury Lane, from 1814 to 1816. Each song is accompanied by information on who sang the song, in which production, and where this production was staged. Included in this collection is 'The Clown's Courtship' from The Fortune Teller, 'The Troubadour' from John of Paris, 'The Woodpecker' written by Thomas Moore, and also 'Hallow the goblet that flows to his name', which was written by Sir Walter Scott for Pitt's birthday. This work is now very scarce. Disbound but intact. The title page is coming loose and has a small closed tear to the fore edge. The binding is a little strained. Pages are fairly bright, with the odd spot and occasional offsetting. A small closed tear to the fore edge of page 15, and a repaired tear to the fore edge of page 23. Good Only . Ill.: Not Stated.
