Henty 1832-1902: A Bibliographical Study, Peter Newbolt, 50.2) Originally published in 1891.Complete with thirty-two leaves of publisher's catalogue to rear and half title.Written by George Alfred Henty, English novelist and war correspondent known for his influential work of juvenile adventure and historical fiction, which inspired authors of the likes of Herbert Strang, Henry Everett McNeil, and Percy F. Westerman among others.Illustrated with a frontispiece and ten full page plates by WS Stacey, as well as two maps. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with light bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Previous ownership ink inscription to front free endpaper, undated. Plate of 'Roger swarms up the bowsprit till he reaches the cap' loose but present. Internally, binding generally firm.
