Strickland was nicknamed the 'Anarchist Baronet', known for espousing radical causes around the world, as an anti-British and anti-imperialist man.Handwritten note tipped in to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume I, 'Andrew Miller the bookseller gave Fielding 800 for the copy eight of his Amelia&apos. In a full calf binding. Externally, rubbing and light marks to the boards and spines. A little loss to the head and tail of the spines, heavier to the tail of the spine of Volume II. Minor bumping to the extremities. Lacking the spine labels. Cracks to the joints. Loss of leather to the front board of Volume I. A very small puncture hole to the tail of the front board of Volume II. Front hinge of Volumes I and III and the hinges of Volume II are starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Note tipped-in to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spotting, a little heavier to the first and last few pages. Worming to the tail of the text of Volume I from page 91 to the rear paste down, increasing in size to the rear but never affecting text. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
