The present work was authored by D H Atkinson, editor of 'Old Leeds: its Byegones and Celebrities,' and contains a complete biography of Thoresby as well as a historical and topographical sketch of his town and times.  In the original publisher's uniform quarter paper vellum binding over cloth covered boards, titles in gilt to morocco spine label. Externally smart with light bumping to head and tail of spine, back strip darkened. Previous ownership ink inscription to front free endpaper dated 1967, Frank Broomhead's bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
