Written by Reverend George Crabbe, an English poet, surgeon and clergyman known for his early use of realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class life and people. Crabbe mostly worked in the form of heroic couplets, a favourite form for narrative and epic poetry, and used often by Chaucer and Alexander Pope. Rebacked red straight grained morocco. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot.
