He only wrote five plays, with a brief but successful career, his plays written between 1693 and 1700. Congreve was also a member of the Whig Kit-Kat Club, turning his career towards politics after his brief playwright career. In a full calf binding. Externally, a little rubbed. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Some light marks to the boards, a little heavier to the rear board. Spine is a little discoloured. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some scattered spots. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
