Description: London, Printed by and for W. and J. Richardson, 1771. Leather. Very scarce work on English antiquities edited by Thomas Hearne, complete in two volumes in uniform bindings. Originally published in 1720. ESTC T132034. In two volumes. Bound without preliminary advertising leaf to vol II noted by ESTC. Very scarce in all editions. With a folding frontispiece to vol. I. With Hearne's preface and appendix to the former edition.Edited by antiquarian Thomas Hearne, English diarist and antiquary remembered for his published editions of medieval English chronicles and other important historical texts. Containing a series of essays discussing English antiquities including the laws of England, the economy, history, etymology of terms, titles, and much more. With Henry Hunter, Esq's armorial bookplates to front pastedowns. Inscribed to title page vol. I 'Act on't, says Time to Thos Hearne! Whatever I forget you learn.' Rebacked and rebound in full calf with titles and details in gilt to spine, renewed plain endpapers. Externally very smart with light rubbing and marking to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last few leaves, pages otherwise bright and clean throughout. Very Good .
