Cooper wrote this novel in imitation of the contemporary English domestic novels of the day, in the style of Jane Austen. Though the novel did not meet with much success, the process made Cooper realise his potential as a writer. Cooper went on to write profusely, and is now best remembered for his novel 'The Last of the Mohicans&apos.Volume II bound without the publisher's adverts as usual. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards, Volume I is rebacked with new endpapers. Externally, rubbed. Minor bumping to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Spines are a little discoloured. Tail of the spine of Volume III is lifting. A small amount of loss of leather to the head of the spines. Hinges of Volume II are starting but firm. Blind stamp to the recto of the front endpaper of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and with some scattered spotting. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
