In a full calf binding. Externally, worn, with rubbing to the board and spine. Loss of leather to the tail of the spine, with a small amount of loss to the head. Crack to the spine. Minor bumping to the extremities, with the leather lifting a little in places. Small crack to the rear joint and to the head of the front joint. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is strained. Lacking most of the paper to the paste downs. Lacking the front endpaper. Rear endpaper is detaching. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally binding is strained in places. Pages are age-toned and generally clean with the occasional spot and ink mark to the margins. Title page is a little edgeworn. Frontispiece is edge worn and detaching.
