Shirley Hibberd was one of the most popular and successful gardening writers of the Victorian era. Volume three has forty plates detailing Greek Valerian, Avens and Salvia. Volume four also has forty plates and illustrates magnolia, orange lily and the mountain clematis. Volume five also has forty plates and describes the Spanish iris, giant balsam and hawthorn, with an index also. Collated, complete. Undated, dated from Jisc and the fact that in 1883 the publisher's name changed to Cassell and Company, Limited. In full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Front hinges starting to vols 3 and 5, but they remain firm.
