Alongside works from over fifty artists, Cunningham offers an account of the individual style of each painter. Ink inscription to recto of the front endpaper in volume I 'Marian Ryan, from an affectionate father, John Cotton. Binder's sticker to front pastedown of both volumes. 'Kelly Binder. 15 Gower Place&apos. Bookplate to rear pastedown in volume II, and to the front pastedown in volume II. Blind stamp to rear free endpaper from Neatham Mill Library in both volumes. In full calf binding. Externally, sound. Rubbed to the boards and the spine, and a little at the joints. Front hinge of volume I a little tender.
