Rebound in handsome half morocco with new endpapers. WIth an engraved frontispiece and some small vignette illustrations throughout. The final work produced by the English poet, John Dryden, first published only two months prior to his death. The work contains translations of the First Book of Homer's 'Iliad', selections from Ovid's 'Metamorphoses', and Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales', stories from Boccaccio and many more translations including original poems by Dryden himself. John Dryden was a notable seventeenth century poet, playwright, critic and translator. He is best known for being appointed England's first Poet Laureate. The pagination is as follows: [2], A-R12 ESTC Citation No. T124903 Rebound in half morocco with new endpapers. Light shelf wear to the edges. The odd small handling mark to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but generally bright and clean. Light spotting and scattered handling marks throughout. The frontispiece has been partly coloured in by the previous owner. Ink mark to the title page. The vignette illustration on page C6 has been coloured. Small ink marks to pages 344-345 and to the two final pages of the table. Red ink marks to the final page. Marks to page 56 and 57 affecting the text. Very Good . Ill.: Gucht. Very Good .
