The final work produced by the English poet, John Dryden, first published only two months prior to his death. The work contains translations of the First Book of Homer's 'Iliad', selections from Ovid's 'Metamorphoses', and Chaucer's 'Canterbury Tales', stories from Boccaccio and many more translations including original poems by Dryden himself. John Dryden was a notable seventeenth century poet, playwright, critic and translator. He is best known for being appointed England's first Poet Laureate. The odd small handling mark to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but generally bright and clean. Light spotting and scattered handling marks throughout. The frontispiece has been partly coloured in by the previous owner. Ink mark to the title page. The vignette illustration on page C6 has been coloured.
