Includes notes and an index. Elton was an English literary scholar, best known for his six volume 'A Survey of English Literature 1730-1880). In the original publisher's cloth bindings and unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very smart. There is some wear to the extremities of the dust wrappers, including some small creases and a few minor tears, and light age toning. To the binding, there is some minor bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. There is spotting to the fore edges. Internally, firmly bound.
