Containing a series of beautiful photographs from Myles Birket Foster's watercolours illustrative of charming summer scenes celebrative of English rural life and scenery. A scarce later edition of this work, following the first 1867 edition when George Bell & Sons was still publishing under Bell & Daldy. Collated, complete with fifteen illustrations. Each plate is accompanied with lovely verses by the likes of Aird, Bloomfield, Crabbe, Baillie, and others. Myles Birket Foster was a famous Victorian illustrator and watercolourist. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally sound with shelf wear, bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
