A charming collection of summer scenes photographed from the work of Birket Foster in full morocco binding, featuring a letter signed by Birket Foster. Containing a series of beautiful photographs from Myles Birket Foster's watercolours illustrative of charming summer scenes celebrative of English rural life and scenery. The first edition of this work. Collated, complete with fifteen illustrations tipped in. Each plate is accompanied with lovely verses by the likes of Aird, Bloomfield, Crabbe, Baillie, and others. Tipped in to a recto front blank leaf is a letter signed by Forster where he writes to a friend that he "shall be with you at 12 o'clock instead of 3 tomorrow - as I have so many things to do in the afternoon. Hoping this will be equally convenient to you" dated 1865. Myles Birket Foster was a famous Victorian illustrator and watercolourist. Rebound in full straight up grain morocco binding with gilt tooling to boards, five raised bands, gilt to edges. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear, rubbed to boards and spine.
