Eckel in his 1913 publication 'The First Editions of the Writings of Charles Dickens&apos.Illustrated with a frontispiece, engraved title page, and thirty-eight plates. Collated, all plates are present, including the dark plates.Bound without half-title.'Little Dorrit' follows Amy Dorrit, who was born and raised in the Marshalsea debtors prison. It was originally published in monthly instalments over nineteen months, and this is the first edition published in a complete book.Charles Dickens is possibly the most well-known Victorian author, with his fifteen novels still being widely read and performed, as well as being studied in school and enjoyed by people of all ages.Illustrated by Hablot Knight Browne, most often known by his penname 'Phiz&apos. As Phiz, he illustrated many of Dickens' novels, including 'David Copperfield', 'Dombey and Son', and 'Bleak House', as well as illustrating for 'Punch' throughout his life. Rebound in a modern cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light marking to the boards and spine. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
