Fenwick relays the tale of the pursuit of a fox by a band of huntsmen across Flodden field - the site of the death of King James IV of Scotland - with intimations of a mysterious supernatural presence apparent throughout both cantos.Retaining the original half title.With a former owner's inscription to the front pastedown.Charming supplementary notes to the rear provide insight into hunting, horsemanship, fairy lore and Scottish dialect. In a half calf binding, with papered covered boards. Rubbing to back strip and board perimeters, with small losses of leather to back strip head and tail. Front joint starting, with board holding firm. Losses to paper at fore edge of front board. Inscription to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Significant ink spill to page 119, with further small ink marks to page 118. Pages otherwise bright, with the odd light spot throughout. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
