Description: Glasgow , John A. Anderson, c1903. Paperback. A very scarce pocket-sized Scottish poem dedicated to 'Ogilvie.' Short rhyming poem in Scottish slang, dedicated to a man names 'Ogilvie,' "An' a queerer auld body ye never did spy, / Had Sir Walter e'er met him he'd given him a name / Wad rivalled the Bailie's in annals o' fame. / About five feet in heicht, geylies sair bent wi' years. / His jovial face was a stranger to tears; / An honest Scots smile was aye on it seen, / An' a kind nature twinkled in twa wee blue een." (from the first few lines). Written by a 'J. A. A.'A very scarce work, dated from a census from 1903-4 listing the publisher John A. Anderson at 68 South Woodside Rd, Glasgow. Not seen on the market nor found in any institutional library. Illustrated with a portrait by 'H J D' dated '86. Inscribed to verso title page by a previous owner, 'E. Archibald Glenmaye.' In the original publisher's wraps. Externally smart with minor shelf wear only, sunned to front wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: Not Stated.
