The first edition of this work, a very scarce copy rarely seen on the market. William F. Denning's handbook to telescopic work, with instructions and reflections on viewing different plates and astronomical occurrences, from articles first published in the 'Journal of the Liverpool Astronomical Society.' Illustrated with a frontispiece, one plate, and numerous further illustrations in text. Collated, complete.Denning was an amateur astronomer, successful despite his lack of formal scientific training. His best known work is consists of catlogues of meteor radiants, observations of Jupiter's red spot, and the discovery of the five comets.  Rebound in library full cloth with library shelf numbers in gilt to spine. Externally generally smart with shelf wear, bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities, marks to boards, back strip darkened.
