With chapters on Alfred the Great, Edward the Confessor, St. Hugh of Lincoln, St. Francis of Assi, Joan of Arc, and Sir Thomas More. Revered Edward Gilliat spent thirty years as a school master at Harrow, and wrote several novels as well as non-fiction works. The front board of this first edition is blind stamped in gold with the top of the Harrow school crest. Prize bookplate from Harrow to the front paste down, recording that Graham Wilkin was given the book as a prize in 1885. In a calf binding. Externally lovely, with only one mark to the front board.
