Author: W. E. Hurcomb Title: The Wetherfield Collection of 222 Clocks
Description: Not Stated, Not Stated, 1929. Cloth. A second edition of this illustrated catalogue of the Wetherfield collection of 222 clocks, sold at auction in 1928. The second edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Illustrated with 76 pages of photographs of the collection of 222 clocks. David Arthur Wetherfield brought together perhaps the greatest private collection of English domestic clocks. After his death, the collection was sold, about half going to America (despite his wishes) and the remainder staying in the UK. It was particularly rich in longcase (grandfather) clocks, but had a good selection of bracket clocks and some lantern clocks, all purely English designs. This is a catalogue of these clocks from the Wetherfield Collection, sold at auction by W. E. Hurcomb on 1st May, 1928 for £30,000. It has become a pictorial record for clock collectors wishing to date their own English clocks. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with light bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine, with small loss to the cloth to the tail of the spine. A little fading to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd handling mark. Very Good . Ill.: W. E. Hurcomb. Very Good .
