Theodore Beza was a French Reformed Protestant theologian and scholar, who played a principal role in the Reformation, succeeding John Calvin as spiritual leader of the Republic of Geneva. Lacking the title page, pages 1* and 2*, A2 and Hh6. Other pages could be missing from the rear of the book. Text ends at Apocalypsis Chapter 22, verse 16. The pagination of this book is as follows: *3, A2-A6, B-Gg6, Hh1-Hh5 With an ink signature for one, Samuel Coudill, dated 1704 to the front paste-down, and one for a Thomas Smith, dated 1721 to both paste-downs. In full calf near contemporary or contemporary binding. Externally, a trifle rubbed with rubbing to the extremities. Some loss to the upper spine. Marks to the boards and spine, with a slightly larger mark to the rear board. Hinges strained but firm. Lacking the free endpapers. Ink inscription to the paste-downs. Internally, lacking the title page and several pages towards the front and rear. The first page, *3, is loosening. Otherwise firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Age-toning throughout. Ink inscription to the first page and several ink marks and annotations throughout. Offsetting, handling marks and the occasional small tear and puncture throughout. Loss to pages *3, 3-11 and page 129. Page 3 has been cut in half, with the bottom half lacking. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
