Best known for his 1917 novel South Wind, British writer Norman Douglas was often involved in scandals and frequently fled Britain to escape prosecution for the various allegations of pederasty and sexual assault. Between 1916 and 1917, the British police charged Douglas for the sexual assault of 3 boys. According to Cecil Woolf's bibliography of Douglas there are 4 different bindings to the first edition. This is variant iii. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with a little rubbing to the boards. Spine a little discoloured and bumped, with some small tears to the head of the spine and a little loss to the tail. Minor wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
