John Maxwell Coetzee is a South AfricanAustralian novelist, essayist, linguist and translator. He was the first writer to be awarded the Booker Prize twice: for Life & Times of Michael K in 1983, and for Disgrace in 1999. He won the 2003 Nobel Prize in Literature. This set of four novels includes: Life & Times of Michael K (1983); Age of Iron (1990); Youth (2002); and Diary of a Bad Year (2007). Coetzee often explores the themes of apartheid and colonialisation and its legacy. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, the cloth of all volumes is in lovely condition, though the extremities of Age of Iron have been bumped on one side, which has caused a little wear to the folds of the dust wrapper and abrasion to the fore edge. However, dust wrappers are generally in excellent condition except for a little spotting to the flaps of Life & Times. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout all volumes, though the pages of Age of Iron are slightly tanned. Fine . Ill.: None. Fine/Near Fine.
