Edward Hyde, the First Earl of Clarendon was an English statesman, lawyer and diplomat who served as chief advisor to Charles I during the First English Civil War and Lord Chancellor to Charles II from 1660 to 1667. The History of The Rebellion and Civil Wars in England was the first detailed account of the events from a key player. The work was first published between 1702 and 1704. Volume one, part one and two were published in 1705. Volume two and three were published in 1706. With a frontispiece to all six volumes as called for.Collated, complete. Uniformly bound in full calf. Externally, generally smart with some marks to the spines and boards. Some wear to the head of the spine of volume one and three. Front hinge of volume one part one is starting and remains generally firm. Front hinge starting but remains firm to volume two, part one and volume three part one and two. A small hole through the last ten pages of volume five. Internally, the volumes are generally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages that remain clean. Very Good . Ill.: None. Very Good .
