George Cruikshank (1792-1878) was a British caricaturist and book illustrator, praised as the "modern Hogarth" during his life. He became a popular satirist and his book illustrations for his friend Charles Dickens, and many other authors, reached an international audience. In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a couple of small stains and slight soiling to the boards, and a little bumping to the extremities. Colour is good and gilt is bright. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the odd handling mark, some spotting to the leaves surrounding the plates and the odd spot to the rear free end paper. Very Good . Ill.: George Cruikshank.
