Henry Cockton (1807-1853) was an English novelist, remembered primarily for The Life and Adventures of Valentine Vox, the Ventriloquist. His comic tale Sylvester Sound the Somnambulist, about a persistent sleepwalker who unknowingly performs many exploits, also enjoyed some success. It sold over 40,000 copies, and remained in print until 1921. Its preface explores sleepwalking. In a half calf binding. Externally smart, with some fading to the spine, rubbing to the extremities and bumping to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally clean with the odd spot throughout.
