Richard Jefferies (1848-1887) was an English nature writer, noted for his depiction of English rural life in essays, books of natural history, and novels. His childhood on a small Wiltshire farm had a great influence on him and provides the background to all his major works of fiction, but his walks near his later home in Surbiton also inspired some of the essays in this book. 24 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a small loss (not affecting the text) and a few small stains to the title label.
