Later he travelled with the Italian artist Simone Pomardi, where they toured mainland Greece and the Ionian Islands again.Dodwell set out to write this work in order to provide an accurate description of Greece, delving into its ancient history whilst also exploring the state of the country at the beginning of the nineteenth century.Edward Dodwell was an Irish painter, archaeologist, and traveler. Though born in Ireland he spent most of his life in Italy. In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards, rebacked with morocco to the spine. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the original boards. A little discolouration to the original leather. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with only a few spots, plates are spotted more heavily. Small closed tear to the fold of the folding map. Very Good . Ill.: Various. Very Good .
