Hurt. Front free endpaper embossed in right-hand corner with the stamp of 'W. H. Smith & Son Library, 186 Strand&apos. Ink inscription to the second blank page. A Daily Telegraph article from 1964, concerning the architecture of Jack Straw's Castle at the north end of Hampstead Heath, is loosely inserted in the front. A photograph from a 1967 newspaper depicting a plaque dedicated to Sir George Du Maurier is loosely inserted between pages 276 and 277. A photograph of Beechwood House from the Daily Telegraph in 1966 is loosely inserted between pages 354 and 355. A 1971 Christmas card with a sketch depicting Muswell Hill in 1884 is loosely inserted between pages 422 and 423. To the rear are two pages of advertisements for works by the same author. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart with some wear to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. Front hinge, and rear joint and hinge are tender but still reasonably firm. Internally, binding is slightly strained. Pages bright and clean with just some spots to the first and last pages. Good .
