Written by the Vice-Admiral Jurien de la Graviere. The first volume chronologically considers The Caravans of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, The second part considers the restoration of the Spanish Navy and the third part considers The Siege of Malta. With three folding maps to the end of volume one, one showing The Port of Malta in 1570, the second a map of the Strait of Gibralta, the northern coast of Morocco, and a plan and view of Penon de Velez and the third of the Island of Malta in 1686. Collated complete. The second volume continues the part on The Siege of Malta and then the Rescue of Malta. With three folding maps being a harbour sketch of the fortification of Malta to serve for the intelligence of the siege of 1565, a map of the Islands of Malta and St Goze, and a plan of the port and fortifications of Malta in 1686. Collated, complete. With a bookplate for Francis Augustus Brooks to both pastedowns. Both volumes are bound in the original paper wraps. Externally, they are a little worn and faded to the spine and wraps. The front wrap of volume one is slightly torn from the joint but remains attached. With a bookplate for Francis Augustus Brooks to both pastedowns. Internally, pages are generally firmly bound and bright with some scattered spots throughout both volumes. Good . Ill.: none. Good .
