Volume VI details the second year of the war and the Battle of the Somme and has three photogravures and two folding maps and two colour maps. Volume VII considers the Russian Revolution and the entrance of America into the war and has three portrait plates and three colour maps. Volume VIII details America in the War and the last phase of the German retreat and has three photogravures, one folding map and one colour map. Volume IX concludes the war and the series and has three portraits, two folding maps and one colour map. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original quarter calf binding with marron cloth covered boards. Externally, generally smart. The spines are rubbed and a little marked, especially to the heads of volumes ix, viii and vii. There are some marks to the boards, especially the rear board of volume v.
