The narrator teaches at a women's college called Benton and provides humorous observations of his students, including one novelist named Gertrude who is based on novelist Mary McCarthy. Randall Jarrell (1914-1965) was an American poet, literary critic, and children's author. Jarrell acted as the eleventh Consultant in Poetry to the Library of congress, which was later amended to the title of 'Poet Laureate&apos. Jarrell was awarded a variety of titles and awards over the years, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, a grant from the National Institute of Art and Letters, and the National Book Award for Poetry in 1961. Collated, complete.
